Our Mission

Our Mission

True quality, uniquely natural, authentically African.

Our mission is simple: to create natural products that nurture, soothe and heal skin and hair with harm-free ingredients from Mother Nature’s pantry. We’re passionate about the quality of our ingredients, and focus on unique and relatively undiscovered African specialties like Prickly Pear, and under-utilised natural remedies like Papaya and Mango. Our uniquely formulated and handcrafted recipes celebrate Africa’s rich and diverse plant life while keeping you free from harmful and artificial chemicals.

As Africans ourselves, we know the effects of the sometimes harsh air and light on our most vulnerable parts - and have specially developed products for those living under the harsh African sun.

We believe that your skin and hair - the body’s largest organ and its crown respectively — should be treated with love and the most luxurious ingredients available. We also believe that maintaining your natural skin and hair should be accessible to everyone.

Our promise to you is that our products are free from mineral oil, preservatives, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, formaldehyde, petroleum, paraffin and animal testing.

Give yourself goodness with Suki Suki Naturals.

What is Suki Suki Naturals?

Proudly African, our distinctive name is rooted in three languages and has meaning that resonates in each. In our founder’s home country, the Democratic Republic of Congo, suki means “hair”, in Hindi it means “happiness” and in Japanese it means “to be fond of”. I loved the positive universal meanings of the word and couldn’t resist including it twice in our name.

Your skin and hair should be treated with the same care you would treat a goddess! Our overriding passion is in sourcing powerful natural ingredients and pairing them with natural oils using unique highly researched formulations and rare raw materials - and we never include harmful chemicals. We ensure our customer benefits from the best that Mother Nature has to offer without all the harmful extras. Our products are proudly crafted in the vibrant city of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Our Story

The brand’s founder is Linda Gieskes-Mwamba, 31, who was born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), but grew up in Brussels and Johannesburg. Her passion FOR beauty and skincare started when she was a curious five year old, clambering into her mother’s beauty cabinet and playing with her French cosmetics.

However, the trigger for Suki Suki Naturals was in 2010, when Linda - then studying law — wanted to grow her treated hair out into an afro. All the hair products available were either full of chemicals, or were ridiculously expensive — or both. She couldn’t afford to have natural hair! Linda, then started playing with butters and oils to soften her locks, and decided to treat her hair herself, using her knowledge of natural ingredients. This lead to the development of the Miraculous Oil, Suki Suki’s first and still most popular product.

With Linda’s cosmopolitan background — proudly African with a Francophone influence — she wove her heritage, her passion and her knowledge into a uniquely formulated, fully natural, harm-free luxury product.

Initially, Suki Suki Naturals was a personal project while Linda was studying law. In 2012, she moved to the United States. After spending over a year abroad, Linda decided to come home. While she was away, the brand was slowly gaining grass roots popularity in South Africa. Purely through word of mouth, Suki Suki became in high demand. In 2014, Linda decided to launch Suki Suki Naturals, whilst still working as a lawyer. However, in 2017, Linda left law behind and dedicated herself fully to all-natural beauty care.

Now she puts her heart into ensuring our customers benefit from the best that Mother Nature has to offer, without all the harmful extras.
